The papilloma virus is the most commonly detected virus in the human body. It can remain in a latent, i. e. sleeping, state for several months to several years. Under the influence of certain provoking factors, the virus begins to manifest itself in the form of the formation of warts and growths on the skin, so-called papillomas. How to treat papillomas and what are the symptoms of such an infectious disease is described in more detail in the article.
Features of treatment
Only a specialist should treat human papillomavirus infection. Therapy with folk remedies at home is carried out only with the consent of the attending physician.
According to official data, there are more than 100 types of this disease. The treatment and characteristic symptoms are different for each case. For this reason, it is quite difficult to decide on the necessary method of therapy, and an incorrect approach can lead to the situation worsening and the symptoms of the pathology spreading throughout the body.
Before starting treatment for papillomas on the body, the doctor determines the true cause of the development of the disease.
Only then will the specialist decide on the most effective therapy method. Of course, at pharmacy tables you can find many remedies that would help eliminate the symptoms of the disease, but some of them can not only be ineffective, but also aggravate the course of the pathology.
These include acid to cauterize infectious growths and nitrogen to freeze, the use of which helps them fall off on their own. There are also special plasters that are stuck on the affected area and left for 2-3 hours. After this time, the area is moistened with water, the plaster is removed and the wart is removed as well.
Well-known doctors believe that such methods of therapy are effective only in eliminating the external manifestations of the disease, while HPV still remains in the body and can be activated after a certain period of time. To get rid of the papilloma virus on your own, you should consult a doctor. In this case, special antiviral agents are prescribed that can suppress the infection and its spread in the body.
So, let's look at how to get rid of the external manifestations that characterize the disease, namely:
- cryodestruction,
- laser therapy,
- electrocoagulation,
- Radio wave surgery.
Cryodestruction
The traditional method of treating papillomas in men and women is cryodestruction, which is the use of liquid nitrogen that is applied to the wart, thereby freezing it. Immediately after application, a burning sensation occurs, which disappears after a short time. Despite these discomforts, the procedure contributes to necrotization of the growth tissue, after which it dies. This allows new, healthy tissue to grow in this area.
When liquid nitrogen is applied to a skin tumor, it cannot affect surrounding healthy tissue.
The advantage is that there is no risk of bleeding, since during the freezing process the arterial and venous arteries located in this section are blocked. The area treated with liquid nitrogen heals fairly quickly. No scars remain because such a remedy does not change the tissue. In some cases, a barely noticeable scar remains, although this is quite rare. After the procedure, the skin is mostly smooth and clean.
This method of treating papillomas in women and men is practically painless, except for a slight burning sensation immediately after using the product.
Laser removal
Some doctors do not even think about how to treat papilloma in this or that person, but immediately prescribe laser therapy. During the treatment, low-intensity rays are used, which allows the following results to be achieved:
- Stimulating normal blood circulation in the affected area;
- improving tissue nutrition;
- Activation of self-healing processes.
All these processes together contribute to rapid healing of the treated surface. Treatment of the symptoms of the disease takes place in two phases:
- Removal of growth.
- Coagulation (closure of blood vessels and affected cells).
It is the second stage of therapy, which ensures the exclusion of any inflammatory processes in the area of laser exposure and tissue scars. As a rule, after the removal of a tumor with a maximum diameter of 5 mm, no scar remains as such. After removing larger growths, you can observe the formation of inconspicuous spots with a whitish tint.
Laser therapy has the advantage of eliminating the possibility of affecting surrounding healthy tissue, thereby reducing the risk of infection. Another advantage of the treatment is the ability to control the depth of laser exposure during the procedure. The target is only the changed tissue, namely the area with the wart, which crusts over and falls off.
Considering the accuracy of the action of laser beams, we can conclude that this method can cure papillomas even in the genital area, eliminating the risk of complications in the postoperative period. The disadvantages of laser therapy include one side effect - a burn that goes away on its own over time.
Electrocoagulation
You can treat growths in any area (papillomas on the neck, armpits, etc. ) with electrocoagulation - a method in which the changed tissue is cauterized with electric current. The electricity comes from a special device - the main instrument of the procedure.
Electrocoagulation is an inexpensive pleasure that makes the therapy possible for every average person.
The total duration of a session is a maximum of 15 minutes. If there is little growth, repeated treatment is not necessary. Complete relief of symptoms occurs 7 days after the procedure. There will be no pain or discomfort during this time.
In all people, including children, there is a need to examine the removed tissue for malignancy. This is necessary because even a benign neoplasm can degenerate into a malignant one. In this case, the biological material is subjected to histological analysis.
Before carrying out electrocoagulation, the specialist carries out diagnostic measures that make it possible to identify existing contraindications to the use of this technique.
radiotherapy
Symptoms caused by the virus and its activity in the body can be treated with a technique such as radiation therapy. The treatment helps eliminate both single growths and multiple tumors throughout the body. The advantages of such therapy include the absence of the risk of postoperative scars and the elimination of stimulation of nerve endings. This allows the method to be used in the treatment of papillomas in all areas, including the face, for example, the eyes.
The following contraindications include:
- period of pregnancy;
- concomitant cancer;
- inflammatory process on the skin in the area requiring therapy;
- Menstruation;
- any disease that occurs in the acute stage.
Before therapy, the area affected by radio waves is treated with an anesthetic. This can be a special anesthetic cream, a spray or an injection with such an agent. The total duration of the session is no more than 30 minutes. After the growth is removed directly, a small wound appears in its place, which heals over time and a thin crust forms in its place. The latter also disappears after a while.
How to get rid of a virus
Treatment of the papilloma virus by eliminating only external manifestations will not be effective, since it will manifest itself by the appearance of the same symptoms in the future. So is it possible to cure such a virus and how does it work? To achieve this goal, special drugs are prescribed that are used in combination, namely:
- antiviral in various release forms;
- Immunomodulators.
With the help of antiviral drugs, it is possible to destroy the structure of the human papilloma virus and preventively influence its further spread in the body. These can be gels, ointments, tablets, suppositories, solutions for injections. Tablets are considered the most effective. To suppress the activity of the virus, medications in tablet form are often prescribed.
If symptoms of papillomavirus appear on the genitals, the use of rectal suppositories is prescribed, which will help eliminate and prevent the inflammatory process in this area and strengthen local immunity. The daily dose of such products is 1-2 suppositories.
Immunomodulators are prescribed to increase the body's resistance to the activity of the virus. These should only be prescribed by a specialist as they affect the human immune system.
Home treatment
As mentioned above, folk remedies are only an addition to the main therapy, but by no means the main treatment. You can use the following natural components:
- Eggs (crude protein is applied to skin growths several times a day until they begin to fall off on their own);
- Castor oil (smear the affected areas with this product several times a day and cover them with a bandage or scarf; the method is used until the growth disappears);
- laundry soap (the method is used only for existing papillomas on the skin; such treatment is not suitable for mucous membranes; rub the growth for 5 days, being careful not to damage the integrity of the tissue);
- celandine (after steaming the skin with a new growth, it is smeared with a fatty cream along with the new growth, and then with plant juice; the procedure is carried out several times a day for a week);
- Garlic (used to treat papillomas in all areas except the face and genitals, so as not to burn yourself; a clove cut in half is used to lubricate the growth every 5 minutes for half an hour; the procedure should be carried out in the morning for 2 weeksand in the evening);
- Iodine (after lubricating the skin around the growth with a rich cream, iodine is used: applied to the growth with a cotton swab until symptoms of inflammation appear, after which it begins to fall off on its own);
- Dandelion (make an infusion from the plant by filling the heads with cologne and letting it steep for two weeks; after this time, filter the infusion and smear the growth with it until it falls off on its own).
Infection with the human papillomavirus can be dangerous to health, especially if treatment is not started on time and completely. That's why it's important to see a doctor at the first warning signs.
